What Is ThePolitibase?

ThePolitibase is a free, nonpartisan congressional transparency platform built to make the workings of the U.S. federal government easier for every American to understand. We track votes, bills, committee assignments, campaign finance, and 2026 race data for all 535 current members of Congress — 100 senators and 435 representatives — across all 50 states.

Our Mission

We believe that an informed citizenry is the foundation of a functioning democracy. The information ThePolitibase provides — vote records, sponsored legislation, donor data, committee assignments — is already public. We simply organize it in one place so you don’t need a law degree or hours of research to understand what your representatives are doing on your behalf.

What We Track

  • All 535 current members of the 119th Congress — senators and representatives
  • Every vote on the Senate floor and in the House of Representatives
  • Bills sponsored and co-sponsored by each member
  • Committee assignments — full committees and subcommittees
  • Campaign finance data from the Federal Election Commission (FEC)
  • Donor employer breakdowns and geographic donation origins
  • 2026 election candidates and fundraising comparisons
  • Congressional activity from all 50 states

Our Data Sources

All data on ThePolitibase is sourced directly from official U.S. government databases and APIs:

  • Congress.gov API — bills, votes, member records, committee assignments
  • OpenFEC API — campaign finance totals, donors, candidate filings
  • U.S. Senate (senate.gov) — Senate floor vote records and roll call results
  • U.S. House Clerk (clerk.house.gov) — House floor vote records
  • Bioguide (bioguide.congress.gov) — official member photography

Member profiles, vote records, and bill activity refresh automatically every few hours.

AI-Powered Summaries

Member profile pages include an AI-generated summary that synthesizes publicly available voting records, bill sponsorship history, and committee involvement into a plain-language overview. These summaries are generated using the Anthropic Claude API and are clearly labeled as AI-generated. They are intended to help readers understand a member’s legislative record at a glance — not to make value judgments about their performance.

Newsletter & Weekly Digest

ThePolitibase offers a free weekly email newsletter and on-site digest summarizing congressional activity — including bills signed into law, Senate and House floor votes, bills advanced out of committee, newly introduced legislation, and updates on 2026 competitive races. We do not sell or share subscriber email addresses.

Nonpartisan by Design

ThePolitibase is strictly nonpartisan. We display party affiliation exactly as it appears in official congressional records. We do not editorialize, endorse, or take positions on legislation, candidates, or political parties. Our goal is to present facts — not opinions.
