Rep. William Keating (D-MA) sponsored this bill to allow Ukrainian nationals who were paroled into the United States after February 20, 2014, to apply for permanent resident status. The Department of Homeland Security may waive grounds for inadmissibility (except for certain crimes and security-related grounds) for applicants, who must undergo vetting and interviews equivalent to those required for refugees. The bill also preserves eligibility for status adjustment for certain battered spouses whose eligibility came from a now-ended marriage. DHS must issue guidance to implement these requirements and set a deadline for eligible individuals to apply.
