Technical Corrections to the Northwestern New Mexico Rural Water Projects Act, Taos Pueblo Indian Water Rights Settlement Act, and Aamodt Litigation Settlement Act
H.R. 4598 allows the federal government to deposit unpaid interest payments into three Native American water settlement funds: the Navajo Nation Water Resources Development Trust Fund, the Taos Pueblo Water Development Fund, and the Aamodt Settlement Pueblos' Fund. These funds were created under water rights settlement agreements in 2009 and 2010 that did not originally permit interest to accrue. Sponsored by Rep. Teresa Leger Fernandez (D-NM).
