About the data
Source & methodologyPrimary calendar
Dates are pulled from each state's board of elections, cross-checked against the National Conference of State Legislatures. We update within 24 hours when a state moves its date or sets a runoff.
Candidate fundraising
Every dollar figure comes from official FEC quarterly filings. We refresh daily. If a candidate hasn't filed yet, you'll see "FEC data pending" rather than a guess.
Race labels
Labels describe a race's structure, not a partisan prediction. "Open seat" means no incumbent is running; "Crowded field" flags a large primary; "Competitive" appears only when candidates from both major parties have each raised over $100K and the totals are within range of each other. We never project a winner.
Candidate rosters
We list every candidate who has filed with the FEC for the race, not just the major-party nominees. Independents and third-party candidates appear too. Filing thresholds vary by state.
